Happy Holidays Everyone

Oh my, it's been quite hectic these days with finishing up the remodel and I still need to install internet too.  I've been catching up with everyone's posts but I'll be back as soon as we finalize things with the house. Hopefully in the next few weeks. Can't wait to show you and I'll have so much more free time as well. Hope everyone stays safe and enjoy the holidays!

Thankful Thursday : Pet Insurance

I am joining this week's Brian's Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for pet insurance because you never know when someone needs an emergency visit. I have everyone on insurance except Mia and Coral. If you have a young cat without pre-existing conditions, it may be worth it to get insurance. I got Mia and Coral when they are already in their geriatric ages and coverage starts at $250 per cat per month! While everyone else costs about $80/per cat per month and I don't do basic when it comes to the cat fam so we get the best coverage available.

Recently, Cleo had intestinal blockage due to swallowing some random things and I had to take her to the emergency vet. If you know about vet visits you have to pay upfront before any service (at least here anyways) and that can be very stressful for some parents who don't have the money or can't get a credit loan. My charges were $11,852.87 upfront before they can do surgery. Holy Moly. I mean we all hear stories about how expensive the vet is but boy did my soul leave my body. Of course I would do anything for my babies but I can't say it didn't hurt especially with the remodeling going on.

They usually charge you the upper limit estimate and luckily for me they refunded me $3262.55 but that was still $8590.32 out of pocket! Thankfully with insurance, and after some back and forth emails, they reimbursed me $7551.29 leaving me to just pay a grand total of

$1039.03

I couldn't be more grateful, thankful because without insurance I would be in some financial trouble. Definitely get insurance if you can, because nobody wants to take their kitties to the emergency vet! I'm sharing the exact cost to be transparent on just how much the vet costs.

Sunday Selfie 03 : Rosie

Sunday Selfie is brought to you by The Cat on My Head

Rosie is quite a lovable character. Her previous owner had named her Artemis, but I just call her Rosie even though I made up this ridiculous long name for her Penthouse Princess Rose "Rosie" Royce. She has an incredible appetite for an 8 pound cat, she will eat, and eat, and keep eating until all the food is gone. She will 1) eat everyone's leftovers 2) spend at least an hour finishing up the food 3) get into unopened bags of food and go to town 4) find food in places I didn't even know had food...

Rosie is extremely, EXTREMELY food motivated that she can easily be clicker trained. She knows a few tricks though the one she likes is fist bump by touching your hand hoping you will give her food. She's also so food motivated that I got a SureFeed Microchip Feeder for Chief (since he eats very slow) but Rosie already figured out how to beat the system....She's a spoiled kitty.

Friday Blog Hops : December 10, 2021

Happy Friday everybody! I'm doing a few blog hops today first is Feline Friday hosted by Comedy Plus. Here is a snap of the kitty crew, I usually try to take a photo whenever everyone is together! Starting on top is Siggy the Domestic Short Hair, Chief the Maine Coon, Cleo the Savannah, and Rosie the Bengal. Zorro and Cleo is still in the process of a slow introduction so they are doing time-share of the space for now.

Nature Friday is hosted by The LLB Gang and this is a snap of a walk in Sausalito, Scoma's is a popular seafood restaurant. I love spending a day exploring different parts of the Bay Area, enjoying the walks, fresh air, and change in scenery.

Flashback Friday a year ago from today is Chief enjoying his nap on the couch.

Happy Tuesday : Featuring Tiger & Mr. Patches

Happy Tuesday blog hop is hosted by Comedy Plus!

Wishing everyone a Happy Tuesday and hope everyone's week is off to a good start! This is Mr. Patches (front) and Tiger (back) who I am cat sitting this week. Mr. Patches love food and will stand up on his two hind legs and do a twirl when it's meal time. Tiger also recently showed more enthusiasm during his meals, however both are on a little diet at the moment. I love them so much as I love all my cat clients just as I love my own cats.

Mr. Patches is a silly boy, he's kind of lazy when it comes to playing with toys and he rather relax under the couch or under the table dozing off..Zzz..

Awww Mondays : Featuring Kuroneko

This is one of the community cats that live around the block of my house. I don't know if this is male or female so I named them 'Kuroneko' which means black cat in Japanese. There's at least 5 cats here so likely more that go unseen. Kuroneko is the most friendly and social of the bunch, will come greet you, and can be bribed with treats. I believe they've been around for at least 7 or 8 years, and I can see very subtle cloudiness in Kuroneko's eyes so it's reasonable to say they are probably around that age.

The cats are clipped but not chipped (ear tipped but not microchipped). I feel bad sometimes when I see friendly stray cats because they would be great candidates for getting adopted. Also it will be a better life for them. I understand if they cat is feral then it's best to release them back to where they came from. They all hangout on the patch of grass in the sidewalk of the corner home and they jump the fence to hangout in the backyard of the corner house.

Sunday Selfie 02 : Chief

Another Sunday, so here is another Sunday Selfie hosted by The Cat on My Head. This is my favorite shot of Chief, my Maine Coon. He loves going outside, to the yard, to the neighborhood park, and sometimes he will try to whine and whine until he gets his way. I always walk him on a harness, and the one I use for him is the Supakit Cat Harness and the backpack is from Your Cat Backpack by Travel Cat. He enjoys going out during the daytime, when the sun is out because he loves basking in the sunshine and rolling around in dirt!

Apparently cats love to roll around in dirt, but we do not 100% understand why. Perhaps they want a dirt bath, or maybe instinctually to mask their scent by covering themselves with the environment making it harder for predators to find them, or perhaps they are just enjoying themselves and expressing their contentment? Those who have indoor/outdoor cats or let your cats outside does your kitty display this behavior?

I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who visited or commented on my blog, I see you and just know I visit each and every single one of you! I'm amazing at just how many cat bloggers are out there and some of you have been blogging for many years! Happy to share the love for our feline friends.

Friday Blog Hops : December 3, 2021

I am participating in a few blog hops this Friday, first is Feline Friday hosted by Comedy Plus. This is a photo of my ol' gal Coral, who is Mia's friend. Like Mia, she is also very nimble for her age (16 years young) and she loves nothing more but to purrr in your lap, knead on your belly, sleep on your chest, there is no such thing as purrrsonal space with Coral. If it fits, she sits! She will find a way, nudge her way into your lap, chest, arms, neck, heck she might as well just take a nap on your head! She has the cutest little kink tail which curls at the end, and is about half the length of a normal tail. We don't know what happened or if she was born with it, either way she is purrrfect!

Next up is Nature Friday hosted by The LLB Gang! This is from a visit to the San Francisco Botanical Garden. There are many different trees, plants, flowers, you can see throughout the year. One of my favorite places to spend some time with nature when you live in the city. Living in the city naturally (or un-naturally) you will see a lot of apartments, condos, high rises, especially in San Francisco as the cost of living is probably one of the highest in the states, so I do appreciate any chance to explore parts of the city where there are still lush greenery, quiet, away from the busy streets and sounds.

Lastly, here is my Flashback Friday hosted by FiveSibes featuring my Maine Coon. Chief Baldr Barricade. He goes by Chief, Cade, Mow (pronouced like Mau), Mow Mow, Shmow, Shmowey, Shmowberg, Shmowyberg, Handsome Boy, and probably a whole list of others though I don't think he really responds to any of those options haha. Here is a flashback from a couple days after I brought him home. He took no time adjusting and just began exploring like he knew he was right at home. He explored a bit and took a nap. It was so sweet, and his temperament is exceptional,  it's a happy memory.
